“Je? Una Wako UZIMA?!” (“Hey! Got your UZIMA?!”)

Fr. Tom's Kids participated in the UZIMA EUCHARISTIC YOUTH RETREAT lead by the Dominican Friars in Kenya's capital – 500 Youth gather from TANZANIA , UGANDA AND KENYA

An International 72 Hours with Jesus Christ Youth Retreat was lead by the Dominican Friars of Eastern Africa from April 20-22, 2007 in Nairobi .  Known internationally as YOUTH 2OOO, this was the 10th Eucharistic Youth Retreat led by the Friars in East Africa . “UZIMA” is the Kiswahili word for “Fullness of Life” and is the same word that Jesus uses when he says “I am the Bread of Life” Jn. 6:35 (“Mimi ndimi Mkate wa Uzima”).

Rosaries for all the Youth were hand-made by parishioners from the Dominican Parish, St. Gertrude in Cincinnati , Ohio.  The youth on the left is wearing a rosary hand-made and donated by St. Getrude Parish.

Crowning of the Blessed Mother on Sunday before the closing Mass - the youth in procession with candles and the crown of flowers.

The UZIMA set up team makes a stop on the return from UZIMA Nairobi at Kericho (home of the tea plantations).

Thanks to the generous sponsors and benefactors of Fr. Tom’s Kids and the Dominican Friars, among the 500 participants were 160 students from Fr. Tom’s Kids program.

The youth were able to “experience the power of the Lord’s presence” during UZIMA Nairobi.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING THE FRIARS PREACH THE GOSPEL IN EAST AFRICA
